On June 9, 1912, Josiah and Sarah Moore, their four young children—Herman (11), Katherine (1), Boyd (7), and Paul (5)—and two houseguests—Lena (12) and Ina (8) Stillinger—attended a children’s program at their Presbyterian church. That is what sisters Sabrina and Daphne Grimm thought until their parents mysteriously disappeared one day. Orphaned Laura has been left with many questions about her past – it's made her suspicious of taking answers from the adults in her life at face value. The POD technology is more expensive per copy, which puts the hardcovers out of the range of most trade markets, but squarely in the camp of library and educational publishing markets.

After doing a search on Ed Emberley, the exact book I believe I was looking for is Make a World copyright 1972. She remembers a strong, feisty, dresses-up-as-a-boy-heroine and that (her strongest impression from the book) the barber was also the physician and set bones (possibly someone's hip bone needs setting during the book). Angie and Mark visit the ghost town of Blossom, Colorado, with their parents. That story focuses primarily on Harriet (a fallen woman, gasp!), who returns to her class reunion at Oxford's "Shrewsbury College," which is based on Sayers' own alma mater of Somerville College.

I'll be happy to get it for you as soon as you let me know whichone you'd like. Perhaps I should create another book stumper for the mushroom story, as it does not appear to be Miracles on Maple Hill. :) This was a young adult book about time travel. Book is from a teenage (pre-teen?) girl's point-of-view. Picture book about an old woman living on a houseboat of sorts, with only animals as companions. E-mergency!: Verbal and visual puns abound in this hilarious book about the misadventures of the letter “E”. Stuart is a 10 year old boy who is, not only small for his age, but if you take his name, Stuart Horten, and use the first initial of his first name in conjunction with his last name, you get S.

I posted this Stumper - sad to see no one yet knows what it is...here is some more info...there is another pic where the boy is laying in bed and I think the sheet starts flashing all these different colors (or he is imagining), the pic shows him surrounded by floating quilt pieces...at the end of the book he has "chased" the ghosts (which we never really see) out of the house and falls alseep on the porch swing - wakes up and sees the snowball bushes in front of his grandma's house, feels proud he chased the ghosts away...the pics were also done on a blue/black ink wash Richard Peck, Monster Night at Grandma's House, 1977. "The illustrations, which are ink sketches with blue highlights, have a great ability to show the scary, dark house at midnight without being too dark...

I tried to purchase it from the library, and was practically accused of trying to steal the book. Covered wagons, deserted cottage- Yes. I have no summary but browsing through the book it seems to fit. Full of nature and animals of all types (A is for Ape, B is for Bird, C is for Crab), this one is destined to become a classic and not only for Harper’s fan base but for a brand new generation of readers who are sure to fall in love with the light and wonderful illustrations from A to Z.

I'm going to give this a shot since nothing else has worked. On the kids riding on dragonflies, it seems like one of the Thumbelina or Adventures in Fairyland described the same thing. Before this is done, I think someone drops it and it goes in the fire and they are all worried about what will happen to the woman (or perhaps it's a nasty neighbor?) I don't remember much more! The stumper clue was " wrong side of the bed".

I read this as a young girl and would love for my daughters to read it. As stated previously, this is definitely the book. So far this is the best guess I can come up with: Juvenile SciFi "The story of Julian and Joan and Bob and their hazardous adventures on the Moon Colony is a fascinating preview of the future and the dangers that await intrepid explorers of the heavens.": "When Julian Epworth started on a special mission for a big Airline Company to search for a missing plane, he never dreamed that his quest would take him on a rocket ship to the moon. could he have foreseen.his adventures with the whistling Ramphs and the Cricket army, even his stout courage might have failed him."
