I created a genre study unit and put it on TpT! Tag your scenes and see if you had accomplished that with your outline. If you really want to focus of your characters, then it will be character drive. Do not simply make a list, but use sentences so you can experience the flow of your thoughts. I think that the more words you use to describe someone’s race, the more emphasis you give to that race. Decisions, decisions, decisions… Not only what to leave in and what to take out, but also how to artfully arrange the parts.
